INB Random Acts of Kindness continue
Springfield, Illinois Nov. 19, 2014: Illinois National Bank (INB) recently made cash donations to three local organizations as part of the bank’s commitment to make 15 Random Acts of Kindness in 2014, the bank’s 15th anniversary year.
Act of Kindness # 12. The bank donated money to help neighboring Central Baptist Church build a toy shed needed for the Children’s House Day Care. “It’s hard not to smile when walking down Jackson Street and hearing the kids have fun outdoors,” says Sarah Phalen, President and CEO. “And now we can all be pleased to know we’re helping make the kids’ outdoor time a bit better thanks to having a place to store their toys.”
Act of Kindness # 13. In honor of our veterans, the bank made a donation to the Fifth Street Renaissance Veterans Shelter. The shelter provides homeless veterans with a place to live as they receive the assistance they need with the goal of finding permanent housing. Phalen says, “We asked the organization to use the money we provided to buy hats, gloves, socks .. . . or whatever the organization deems necessary . . . for our veterans this winter season.”
Act of Kindness # 14. Phalen says, “As Christmas approaches, it’s easy to want to make sure every child has a toy. It’s also easy to forget senior citizens who often have absolutely no one who cares enough to offer up a gift for the holidays. Home Instead Senior Care has made it their mission to provide cheer to lonely and/or financially challenged seniors through the ‘Be a Santa to a Senior’ program. We will fill a couple dozen Christmas wishes through a cash donation made on behalf of all IBM employees.”
The bank’s 15th and final 15th anniversary Random Act of Kindness will require the most manpower as employees team up to take action in late November and December to spread kindness as Secret Santas.
