Free Shred Event to Benefit the Chatham Food Pantry

Illinois National Bank, in partnership with Affordable Shred, will host an on-site document Shred Event from 9-11 a.m. Saturday, May 30 at the Chatham INB Branch. While this event is free, the bank encourages donations to the Chatham Food Pantry. The pantry provides emergency grocery assistance to families that live in the Ball Chatham School District.

 

Todd McDowell, INB Senior vice president, Chatham branch manager and retail sales manager, says he chose the Food Pantry as the recipient for this Shred Event because he’s seen the good work the organization does.  “Families face food emergencies for all kinds of reasons.  Unemployment.  Illness.  Accidents. Unexpected expenses. Four times a year, a family can go to the Food Pantry and simply say, ‘I need help.’”  

 

And while donations will help the Food Pantry, shredding old paperwork can help you. “We’re happy to be able to routinely offer this shred event to our customers and really anyone in Chatham,” says McDowell. “We understand and stress the importance of keeping personal identifying information safe. By simply shredding any document, receipt, address label, or piece of paper with identifying information, you can stop identity thieves in their tracks.”
